REVIEW: Chester Theatre Company, "Big Big Sky"

18 AUGUST 2024

"Ed (Abuzar Farrukh), the newcomer in search of a job, who is a self-affirmed vegan, nature enthusiast, and simpleton. Always a delight, Abuzar, who starred in last year’s “Guards at the Taj,” excels in portraying Ed’s childlike wonder and playfulness and brings a slice of cheeky humor, great compassion, and a vegan brownie into the mix.

Review for "The Plein Air Plays" at the Ancram Opera House

12 AUG 2023

"Abuzar charms the audience with his charismatic smile. The play requires that he change tones in a moment which he does seamlessly. Phatak’s play in this actor’s hands is compelling. It is probably the first play in which an actor leaves the playing area in a golf cart."

Review: Chester Theater, "Guards at the Taj"

9 JULY 2023

"Abuzar’s depth and breadth of emotion is stellar. From his bawdy antics with a twinkle of innocent wonder to his tortured writhing onstage, he is never more committed to his role than in Babur’s guilt-ridden anguish over the atrocities he was forced to commit."

CTC’s “Guards at the Taj” is a Beauty

11 JULY 2023

"We are waiting for dawn when the show opens, which will reveal the Taj in all its beauty and glory. The titular characters are Humayan, played by Ruchir Khazanchi with an open, appealing loyalty which proves tragic by the end of the play; and the live wire Babur, played with intense mischievous creativity by Abuzar Farrukh."

World Premiere of "The Night Diary" at the Children's Theatre of Charlotte

27 FEB 2023

"Last year brought a harrowing anniversary: It had been 75 years since the Partition of 1947—a violent, historic act that split Colonial India into Pakistan and India. This is the backdrop of the book The Night Diary by Veera Hiranandani, which follows the event through the eyes of 12-year-old Nisha. Half-Muslim, half-Hindu, Nisha struggles to determine the answers to painful questions: Which country wants me? Where do I fit?"
